Prep Transition

Our Prep Transition Program for future Prep students commences in October each year, and involves four transition sessions plus a final Orientation Morning.

During these sessions children who are transitioning into Prep the following year participate in classroom activities including developmental play, tour our school, enjoy a story, and spend time beginning to establish relationships with fellow prospective students.

Children are in the same group for each transition session, and they experience a different classroom environment each time, with a different Prep teacher.

Orientation Morning

On their final orientation morning children are placed in the final class groupings for the following year, and they meet their classroom teacher.

Please read here for more information about the Prep Orientation Morning.

First Six Weeks of School

During the first six weeks Prep students attend four days a week, Mondays to Thursdays. Fridays are set aside as non-school days for Prep students.

The Prep playground is used exclusively by the Prep students during the first couple of months of school. This is to provide them with a smaller area to play in, and to encourage them to build relationships with students in the same year level.

Please read here for more information about the first six weeks of school in Prep as well as literacy and numeracy assessments for Preps.

Prep Retreat

Read here for information about the Prep Retreat, a quiet space for Prep students during the month of February.

All Prep students are paired up with a Year 4 student as their buddy. We commence our buddies program late in Term 1. The purpose of our buddies program is to further develop relationships within our school community. See here for more information about our Buddies Program.

Prep Picnic

At the beginning of the school year, Prep families are invited to our Prep Family Picnic. This is a wonderful opportunity for parents to meet other parents in the same class, to celebrate the start of our school journey, and for the children to continue to build relationships with fellow Prep students.
