Uniform

The Uniform Shop is open each Tuesday morning from 8.30am – 9.30am. Volunteer parents from the Parents and Friend’s Association operate the uniform shop. Parents can leave orders with payment at the school office at any time or email to elsternwick.ps@education.vic.gov.au

The uniform order will be given to your child on the following Tuesday. A variety of second hand clothes are also available for purchase.

Learning at Home

It is recognised that homework can help students with their education by complementing and reinforcing classroom teaching, fostering lifelong learning and study habits, while providing opportunities for students to take responsibility for aspects of their own learning.

Communication

Compass School Manager is our parent portal – which is the school’s primary communication tool.

Compass allows you to easily access up-to-date and meaningful information about your child and their school, including the ability to:

  • Monitor your child’s attendance, and enter an explanation for absence or lateness
  • Communicate with your child’s teachers, and update your family contact details
  • View your child’s timetable and the school calendar
  • Monitor your child’s homework and assessment tasks
  • Download and view your child’s progress and semester reports
  • Book parent-teacher conferences
  • Pay and provide consent for events and school fees
  • Receive news updates directly from the school

Parents and carers can also read EPS’ Communication Guidelines which describe who in the school can best deal with different types of common questions.

TEAMKIDS - BEFORE & AFTER CARE

TeamKids is the premium provider that exists to enrich children’s lives before school, after school and throughout the school holidays.

When attending TeamKids before and after school care, your children are in remarkable hands. Our full-time Director of Service is highly experienced in the field, and their number one priority is fun – your child will love the experiences we have on offer every day at TeamKids.

When children join our team, not only are they able to explore their world through our designated activity zones and TeamKids Clubs, but they’ll get to connect, collaborate and learn with others in a supportive and nurturing environment that fosters their individuality and own unique interests.

They’ll also enjoy an incredible menu, jam-packed with nutritious and delicious food. One thing is for sure, your child will not go hungry.

From the moment you walk through the door, TeamKids provides an atmosphere that is welcoming, relaxed and inclusive. At every opportunity, we aim to promote child agency and help to shape their innate leadership skills through a variety of in-house leadership opportunities and fun, engaging rewards programs.

We offer industry-leading educator to child ratios of 1:10 (industry standard is 1:15), resulting in safer, better supervised experiences for all involved.

All of our programs are fully approved under the National Child Care Subsidy (CCS).

We’re excited and look forward to welcoming you to the TeamKids Family.

School Council & Sub Committees

All government schools in Victoria have a School Council. They are legally formed bodies that are given powers to help develop processes and systems that best suit our students. In the performance of their role, and abiding by the overall state policy guidelines of Standing Orders and Code of Conduct, School Council members will oversee budget approval and monitoring, policy reviewing, the general facilities and grounds maintenance, employment of the principal and community participation.

The composition of School Council is structured to represent the joint interests and responsibilities of teachers and parents for the education of children. Half the Council is nominated annually for election. Nomination procedures are communicated at the start of each school year. School Council meetings are also open for observers to attend and meeting minutes available from the school office. The community is kept informed through School Council articles in the school newsletter.

The composition of our 2022 council is as follows:

Parent/Carer Members: Chris Simmonds, Henning Petzold, Jacqui Banks, Sharon Behen, Matthew Dowlan, Richard Campbell, Jessie Rosengarten & Mark Williams.

School Employees: Danielle Moore, Leanne Williams, Michael Portaro, Nicola Smith & Stephanie Peters

Community Members: Gill Cashion & Phoebe Norman

School Council meets each month and updates from members in relation to our agenda and discussions will be provided to the community in upcoming weeks.

The following sub committees have been established to assist in the operation of School Council.

  • Educational
  • Finance
  • Parents and Friends Association
  • Buildings and Grounds
  • Marketing, Grants and Promotions

All sub committees include teachers and at least one School Council representative. An annual nomination for membership is open to all parents, EPS Staff and teachers. Whilst our School Council has the ultimate decision making responsibility the sub committees lead the implementation of improvements by making recommendations.

Hire of Facilities

Elsternwick Primary School has a modern fully sized gymnasium, outdoor basketball courts and recently refurbished Brickwood Hall. These beautiful spaces may be available for hire to the broader community outside of school hours. Please contact our Business Manager, Danielle Moore on 8534 6100 or elsternwick.ps@education.vic.gov.au with any inquiries.

Parent’s AND FRIEND's Association

Our Parents and Friends Association acts as the ‘glue’ between the school, parents and students.

The team works closely with the principal and school council to understand strategies and priorities and contribute to their delivery by connecting teachers, students, parents and the broader community.

We provide friendship and support for new families and raise funds for much needed ongoing improvements that will directly benefit students. Recent examples are the installation of goal posts and a new sand pit/play area for the children.

Our regular events are much loved, and include:

  • Welcome barbeque/picnic
  • Mother’s/Father’s/Parent’s/Carer’s day stalls and events
  • Parent’s Party
  • Walkathon
  • Movie sessions at school and local cinema
  • School Disco
  • End of year picnic/event.

Meetings are informal and friendly and we encourage anyone to attend to find out more or to get involved. Please email us at pa@elsternwickps.vic.edu.au to find out more.
